Our new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, Alan Drury, sets out how this new role, funded by the Pets Foundation, will help Hope Rescue over the coming months.

I can’t believe how quickly my first couple of weeks have flown past since taking up my new role with Hope Rescue.

I have admired the incredible work of this team for a long time, and I count myself very lucky that I now get to be part of the Hope Rescue family, to build upon the amazing fundraising support that we already have.

Having worked in the charity sector for over 20 years in various roles, including corporate fundraising, community and events fundraising, charity retail operations and volunteer management, I have a great deal of experience to bring to this exciting role which has been kindly funded for the first year by the Pets Foundation.

Our supporters and volunteers play a key role in helping to save and change the lives of vulnerable dogs every day, so my role will involve taking our events and community fundraising further, to help raise the vital funds needed here at Hope Rescue.

With the help and support of our amazing community and events fundraising team, I will be looking at ways to increase the income from our current events, as well as looking into new and exciting fundraising events to add to our annual events calendar.

We’d love to work with more local community groups and clubs too so, if you (or anyone you know) belongs to a local community group or sports club who are passionate about fundraising, then we would love to hear from you.

Another key area where we really do have an opportunity to grow and develop even further, is the recruitment of new fundraising volunteers and volunteer led fundraising groups.

These groups could organise their own fundraising events and supermarket collections to help raise funds for us within their local community.

If you know anyone who may like to be involved, then we would love to hear from you.

I am really excited about this new role and the challenge ahead, and although we may be a rescue centre, I feel that Hope may just have rescued me a little too.
