After a year of weather-related disruptions that forced the cancellation and postponement of numerous events, including the much-loved Hope Rescue Barking Mad Dog Show, we were determined to make this year’s event happen. All plans were firmly in place and set to go with just over a week before the big day, when the fundraising team were once again faced with the prospect of losing their venue.

What followed was an overwhelming show of community support. A public call on Hope Rescue’s social media channels for urgent help sparked an incredible response, with suggestions and offers flooding in. The team worked tirelessly to explore every lead, including submitting an enquiry to The Greyhound Inn in Usk.

Within no time, Kelly and the team at The Greyhound stepped in to help. With experience hosting large-scale events such as the popular Uskonbarry music festival, the venue was well equipped to accommodate the show at short notice.

For us, the venue feels especially fitting with Hope Rescue’s involvement with campaigning to ban greyhound racing in Wales, which recently passed the final bill in the Senedd. It seems a twist of fate that The Greyhound Inn would come to the rescue!

The Barking Mad Dog Show will now take place at The Greyhound Inn in Usk on Sunday 26th April. Registration opens at 11am, with the show beginning at 12 noon.

The event promises a fantastic day out for all the family, featuring a wide range of stalls, delicious food served by The Greyhound, and even live music.

Visitors can book online or simply turn up on the day -but one thing is certain: we're are excited to welcome everyone for what promises to be a memorable event!
