Two young fundraisers from Pontyclun have raised over £150 for Hope Rescue with their homemade lemonade and doggy treats.

Tayla and Isabel, from Tyla Garw, gave up a Saturday in early July to raise funds for south Wales dog welfare charity, Hope Rescue. It was an early start for the family to set up the stand with individually wrapped treats and homemade lemonade. Thankfully, the weather was good and the stall was very popular.

Their mother, Clare, explained how their love of dogs began.

‘When Tayla and Isabel were very young, they were actually quite scared of dogs. This all changed when we brought a dog into our family and got to share positive experiences with them. As a family, we follow Hope Rescue on social media to hear about the work that they do. The girls wanted to raise funds to help support the dogs in their care.’

With this first success under their belts, Tayla and Isabel are planning more fundraising activities to help local dogs.

Rachel is a community fundraiser with Hope Rescue and supports people to realise their fundraising ideas. She said,

‘We simply wouldn’t be able to help as many dogs without our supporters fundraising in their local communities. Tayla and Isabel have shown amazing initiative by setting up this novel activity, and everyone at Hope is very grateful’.

Every year, Hope Rescue supporters help to fundraise by holding local events, undertaking challenges, and running in 10k and marathon events. The Hope Rescue team has information and resources available to help bring fundraising ideas to life
