What to do if you have lost your dog

Hope Rescue has the stray dog contracts for RCT, Bridgend and the West side of the Vale of Glamorgan (covering the wards of St Brides, Llandow/Ewenny, Llantwit Major, Cowbridge and St Athan).

When a dog is bought into our care, we will check for a tag and microchip. If we are not able to reunite via these methods then we will post the dog on our Facebook page

If you have lost your dog please call the centre on 01443 226659.

Our phone lines are open 365 days a year, 8am until 8pm.  We can take the details and check if we have the dog at our centre.

If you think your dog has come into us, then please call us to arrange to claim them.

How to reclaim your dog

To claim a dog you must:

  • Be able provide proof that you are the current owners (e.g. vet records, photographic evidence, microchip registration form.)
  • Show a form of ID including name and address.
  • Pay the relevant statutory and kennelling fees. For RCT the relevant fees can be found via the button below

Statutory kennelling fees for RCT

Please contact us regarding the fees for Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Please note that additional charges may apply if the dog requires vaccination or any vet treatment. If a dog is not microchipped then an additional cost will be added to cover the cost of microchipping, which is a legal requirement for all dogs.

If you dog has not come into us we will add them to our lost dog register.

We would also advise contacting local vets, putting details on social media and adding the details to DogLost, a free national database which is run by volunteers who will help you search for your dog.
