About us

Hope Rescue is the leading dog welfare charity that saves the lives of stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs in south Wales.

Hope Rescue commits to take in every single unclaimed stray from six Local Authorities across south Wales, holding three stray contracts ourselves. We work in collaboration with enforcement agencies across south Wales to take in dogs seized from low welfare licenced and illegal breeders, as well as dogs from owners who can no longer care for them.

We provide support though our National Lottery funded community programme, Hope in the Community. This includes community outreach days, one-to-one support for dog owners struggling with their pet’s welfare and their own wellbeing, and supporting professionals and members of community organisations to respond to the needs of dog owners.

Hope Rescue also pro-actively advocates for improved animal welfare legislation with a focus on a phased end to greyhound racing, tighter breeding regulation and a more effective framework for dog control.
