The number of dogs coming in through our doors is now starting to rise again towards our pre-COVID levels. This gradual rise was sadly predicted, and many of them are younger dogs with behavioural issues, or older dogs with health issues. Beautiful Roxy featured at the top of this page came in a week ago as she wasn't getting on with the resident dog in the house. During May we took in a total of 55 dogs; 25 were strays, of which 10 were reunited, 20 dogs came in as their owners could sadly no longer care for them, 1 dog came in from our friends at Forever Hounds Trust, and 2 dogs came in for temporary respite care whilst their owners accessed crisis support services, 7 puppies were born on site and 29 of our lovely dogs found wonderful new homes. We currently have 98 dogs in our care across the rescue centre and our fabulous foster homes.

We are now really busy moving ahead with some of our welfare projects now that our new Facilities Manager Gary Waldon has started. The Sensory Garden and extra paddock fencing is nearly complete and we've ordered two new summerhouses for the paddocks - one funded through Lotteri Cyrmu and one though your kind donations towards Sunflower's Summerhouse. We are working on plans and funding bids for several improvement projects including a new dedicated reception area, a new welfare facility for staff and volunteers, training room refurbishment and car park improvements.

We have had 5 Kickstart posts across the rescue centre and charity shop and we also have two placements from other third sector organisations. They have all settled in really well and are proving to be brilliant assets to the Hope Rescue team.

The charity shop is doing a roaring trade and it's so lovely welcoming old and new customers alike. Unfortunately we are having an issue with the roof leaking which is a worry and we are currently pricing up the work needed to fix it.

Our Enterprise Development Manager Meg Williams has also joined our growing team and is busy focussing on building up our e-commerce presence including Ebay and our online shop. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for new product lines and exciting new e-commerce platforms! Please do get in touch if you are a retailer who is interested in donating end of line stock too.

It has been such as busy month but none of this would have been possible without our incredible supporter and for that we truly are so grateful.

If you are interested in making a small monthly gift to support our work you can set this up right here on our website by clicking on donate.
