It has been another incredibly busy month at the rescue centre and across our foster home network. The post-pandemic welfare crisis is no longer a looming prediction but a worrying reality. During June we took in a total of 58 dogs. 26 were strays, of which 16 were reunited; 32 dogs came in as their owners could sadly no longer care for them and our welfare team have helped 19 dogs to find happiness in their new homes.

We are currently caring for 106 dogs and saw our fourth litter of puppies arrive, along with their mother Ladybird. This was one was our largest litter to date with 12 pups who quickly moved to one of our foster homes. It’s a tough job keeping this huge brood fed and nurtured and we’re so lucky to have such dedicated foster carers.

Our fundraising team has been busy working out what the further lifting of restrictions will mean for us over the next few months and beyond. We are eager to include some live and safe events in during the Autumn and Winter. We know from feedback that some of you cannot wait for some face to face activities so watch this space as we may have some exciting news very soon for those who have missed our fun dog shows.

The enterprise and retail team have been busy looking at our online sales platforms and there really is some exciting things coming your way. Our eBay shop has expanded over the last few weeks, with more top brands available than ever before, so please do check it out. Not only can you grab a bargain, you can do so safe in the knowledge that every pound spent is helping a Hope Rescue dog.

There was a significant victory in the 'Flop Not Crop' campaign this month and new legislation is on it’s way. We briefed local Pontypridd MP Alex Davies-Jones and are so grateful for his passionate speech during the MPs' debate in Westminster about the cruelty involved and the reasons why a ban is needed. References were made throughout the debate about the effectiveness of the petition system. The support that you have shown through signing and sharing petitions may feel like a small way to get involved, but it makes such a huge difference and helps pave the way for big changes in animal welfare.

None of the work we do is possible without you, our amazing supporters, and we are so glad to have you by our side.
