The Hope Rescue Pen y Fan Walk is back for 2024! With Spring just around the corner, why not join members of the Hope Rescue team on Sunday 21st April 2024 to climb the highest peak in South Wales (886 metres/2,907 ft above sea-level), while enjoying the stunning picturesque views of Bannau Brycheiniog below.

The walk up Pen y Fan from the Pont ar Daf car park will take around 2-3 hours in total and will bring us up to the Corn Du footpath to the summit. We’ll then take on the last section of short ascent to the summit of Pen y Fan, where we can take those all-important photos* before descending back down.

  • This route is suitable for all walkers who are prepared to do some moderate training.
  • The terrain is uneven, so sensible footwear is absolutely essential.
  • The temperature from the bottom to summit can vary significantly, so we will ask that you prepare for the extremes. Top tip - layer up!

Registration is £10 - There is no minimum sponsorship for this event, however, anyone raising over £75 will receive a free Hope Rescue red beanie hat.

All Children walk for free, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

All dogs are most definitely welcome and we ask that dogs remain on leads for this adventure. This is to protect each other and reduce any stress for the dogs joining us on this walk.

*Whilst we would love a group summit photo, this walk is for all abilities and there could be a considerable amount of time between the front and back walkers. We will get a pre walk photo and please do share any you take along the way.*

As with all of our events the weather conditions will be monitored. In the event of forecasted extreme conditions we will postpone the event and all participants will be notified by email a few days ahead of the planned event.

Please be aware that there are newly introduced car park charges at Pont ar Daf of £7.50 per vehicle.
