We are very lucky to be joined by some of the leading industry experts in the dog welfare sector. Throughout the day at Barking Mad you can join sessions free of charge to learn more about different topics, from bull breeds to dogs coming from a shelter environment. 

Session 1 - 11.15 am - Bethany Bull Breed Behaviourist

Bethany

Starting her career at Battersea Dogs Home, Bethany advanced from kennel staff to leading a team in assessment and rehabilitation. Since becoming self-employed in 2016, Bethany has won multiple awards for her work with Bull Breeds globally and is passionate about meeting their needs. She is now a Senior Behaviourist for the UK’s largest animal charity and voluntarily supports vulnerable dogs through organisations abroad.

Session 2 - 12.15 pm - Ashley Reach Your Pawtential

Ashley

Ashley Szafranek is a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) and an accredited dog trainer. After graduating in 2012, Ashley began her career in dog rescue, where she quickly recognised the need to assist people and their dogs before they reached crisis point, preventing the heart-breaking decision to rehome. In 2014, she founded Reach Your Pawtential! Ashley employs positive, reward-based training methods informed by the latest scientific research. Her sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, incorporating games and a touch of magic. The focus is on 'real life' training, ensuring that both the dog and the owner can 'reach their pawtential' together.

Session 3 - 1.15 pm - Cierón The Forever Summer Project

Cierón

For more than a decade, Cierón has transformed numerous canine lives, mentored other practitioners, and guided behaviour and training teams across the UK. Today, he serves as a Senior Behaviour Advisor for the UK’s largest animal charity, with a focus on specialist rehabilitation for dogs who need extra support. Cierón is on a quest to bring the essence of nature and holistic wellbeing back into the lives of dogs and their people, inspiring a movement that embraces the natural bond between humans and dogs.

Session 4 - 2.15 pm - Clara The Muzzle Movement

Clara

Clara is the founder of The Muzzle Movement and holds a BSc in Animal Behaviour and an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour. Before establishing The Muzzle Movement, she gained seven years of experience at the largest animal rehoming organisation in the UK. This included two years overseeing their largest specialist rehabilitation unit and 1.5 years in a regional role supporting behaviour teams across seven centres in the South East with their most challenging cases.

Session 5 - 3.15 pm - Tom Simplifying Shelter Behaviour

Tom

Tom Candy is a Senior Training and Behaviour Advisor at the UK's largest animal welfare organisation, bringing over 10 years of experience in dog rescue behaviour. As a dedicated Trustee for Hope Rescue, Tom's journey with the charity began at age 15 when he started volunteering. He holds a master's degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour and is both a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist and a Certified Shelter Behaviour Specialist.
