I had the idea for the Lockdown Photo Competition when I was out with my camera, thinking what a beautiful sunny spring we have this year and wondering if there is such a thing as "too many dog pictures"? I think not.

Recently we have received lots of offers of help, people contacting us and offering their time, home and help during lockdown. As volunteering options are really limited at the moment, we thought there might be something else they liked to do...while raising much needed funds. So, the Lockdown Photo Competition was born!

We decided on six categories to offer something for everybody, while keeping it simple at the same time. We had an amazing 135 entries, and many people entered in more than one category.

Unsurprisingly, the "Lockdown Activity - Canine" group was the most popular, but apart from the Wildlife categories, most photographs featured dogs as well. This made us think of shortlisting suitable photographs that would go out to public vote, with the winning pictures being featured in Hope Rescue Calendar 2021. More news on that will follow.

It's fair to say that judging was a very tough task. There were so many fantastic photos! You certainly didn't make it easy, but it was wonderful to see so many of your dogs and to share some of the things that you've been up to during lockdown.

Although not everyone could place in the competition, every single photograph entered was appreciated and everyone deserves a huge well done. 

In total, you helped to raise a massive £466 which will all go towards helping dogs in need.
