Current volunteering opportunities include:

LEAD FUNDRAISER

Based at the Hope Rescue Centre, Llanharan with some travel. Pre-agreed travel expenses can be claimed in line with the Expenses Policy.

Role purpose:

To generate income through arranging, co-ordinating and participating in fundraising events and shows.

Main responsibilities:

Identifying appropriate events for Hope Rescue to take part in that maximise the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the charity.

Taking the lead on Hope Rescue-led events such as Barking Mad Dog Show.

Generating ideas for other Hope Rescue-led fundraising events.

Liaising with event owners to ensure requirements are met.

Co-ordination of event staffing volunteers, event stands, banners and other collateral in order to ensure smooth running of the event on the day.

Fundraising at events, including sign up of regular donors.

Managing volunteer sign up at events.

Keeping accurate records (e.g. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet) of how much was raised and volunteers/donors who signed up. 

Skills and experience required:

Good knowledge of local community.

Event management experience.

An organised, friendly, outgoing, self-motivated & proactive personality, reliable and trustworthy.

Basic record-keeping and IT skills.

Influencing and persuading skills (The role involves establishing & maintaining relationships within your local community).

Enthusiasm for the work of Hope Rescue.

STATIC COLLECTIONS COORDINATOR

Regional, home-based, with occasional travel to Hope Rescue Centre, Llanharan. Pre-agreed travel expenses can be claimed in line with the Expenses Policy.

Role purpose:

To generate income through placement, management and promotion of static collection boxes in various locations across the local community.

Main responsibilities:

Establishing relationships with shop owners and council venues to encourage them to have a collection tin in their store/venue.

Regular emptying and replacement of collection tins.

Keeping accurate records (e.g. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet) of collection tin locations, dates placed/emptied and how much was raised.

Regular banking of the collection tin money/donations raised. 

Writing receipts and thank you letters and presenting certificates to shops/venues for ‘milestone’ amounts raised.  

Using relationships with shops/venues to also promote fundraising campaigns and events organised by Hope Rescue.

Skills and experience required:

Good knowledge of your local community, including shops and council-run public venues.

DIGITAL FUNDRAISER

Based at the Hope Rescue Charity Shop, 77 Taff Street, Pontypridd although some work from home will be possible

Role purpose:

To generate income through online and social media engagement initiatives such as raffles and auctions.

Main responsibilities:

Securing donations of prizes and incentives for online auctions and raffles and identifying suitable charity shop donations to be sold/auctioned through other channels.

Devising and administering online fundraising initiatives via social media platforms such as auctions and raffles, including live auctions.

Promoting online fundraising initiatives to maximise participation and income generated.

Taking responsibility, with appropriate support, for ensuring legal and regulatory compliance of raffles and auctions.

Managing Hope Rescue’s presence on auction sites such as eBay, Schpock and others to be agreed with the Fundraising Manager and auctioning appropriate stock from the charity shop to raise additional funds.

Keeping records of all relevant activities and transactions relating to online fundraising activities.

Ensuring fulfilment of items sold or raffled to the appropriate buyer/winner, including trips to the post office or other parcel delivery service.

Skills and experience required:

A friendly, outgoing, self-motivated & proactive personality, reliable and trustworthy.

Basic record-keeping and IT skills.

Experience of using online auction sites and an aptitude for pricing items for sale.

Influencing and persuading skills (Part of the role involves establishing & maintaining relationships within prize donors).

Enthusiasm for the work of Hope Rescue.
