The start of December heralds the annual #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving something back. Many retailers in the UK have taken up the idea of Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday online shopping. But #GivingTuesday is a charitable alternative to the start of the Christmas shopping season, a time for people to kick off the festive period with a day of giving and making a commitment to charity.
A huge Hope Rescue thank you to everyone who supported our Barking Mad fundraising week. There have been so many great activities involving lots of people, both young and old, that we can't begin to say individual thanks to you all. But please take a bow (wow wow) and be assured that you have all helped us to raise much-needed funds.
Do you have space in front of your fire or on a warm comfy sofa this Christmas? Our kennel dogs should really be in loving foster homes, especially over the festive period, and we would really like to hear from you if you can help.
At holiday times we are often facing a shortage of kennel spaces, so it is doubly important to get our dogs into foster homes. This means that we can help more dogs and give them the Christmas they all deserve.
We have some great events and activities over the next week to help us reach our £10,000 target in this, our 10th anniversary year.
Our friends at Bonny Graphics have designed hoodies, sweatshirts and t shirts that are bound to appeal to everyone. They have very generously offered to donate 30% of the profits to our Barking Mad Week 10th anniversary fund!
So why not treat yourself or buy something as a present for someone special - they would be great Christmas gifts and you can help the Hope Rescue dogs as well. What could be better?
If you love making things look good and being creative, we could have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
This year Hope Rescue celebrates its tenth anniversary – what better way to mark such a milestone than by raising £10,000?
There are lots of activities planned for the week, including an indoor Fun Dog Show, Street Collections, Meets and Greets, Supermarket Collections, Adoption Drive, Online Auction, Raffle, Virtual Dog Show and activities in the Charity Shop. The target is to raise £10,000 – one thousand for every year that Hope Rescue has been helping dogs in need.
We are looking for a volunteer Publicity Coordinator to be responsible for promoting all Hope Rescue dogs for adoption or fostering.
The role holder will be responsible for updating the Hope Rescue website and social media; producing posters and other promotional material; maintaining the adoption and fostering books used at events and in the charity shop; arranging displays in the charity shop; liaising with local media and writing press releases.
Ideally we want someone who lives in South Wales and who has some marketing/PR experience.
We had a really fabulous time at the Bedwellty Show; the sun shone and the day was a great success. We raised a record amount and are really vey grateful to eveyone who turned out to support us.
Here is just a vey small slection of photos taken on the day.
It's that time of year again and our annual Barking Mad Fun Dog Show promises to be bigger and better than ever before!
Held in the grounds of historic Llancaiach Fawr Manor, in Nelson near Caerphilly, the show is always a great crowd-puller and offers something for all the family.
Summer holidays are always just as busy for rescues as Christmas. Although it’s not obvious why that is the case, we think part of the reason could be that some owners literally discard their dogs while they go away on holiday. It is something that we need to be ready to respond to every year.
