#GivingTuesday for Hope Rescue

Hope Rescue will be celebrating #GivingTuesday, on 2nd December, a global day of giving something back. #GivingTuesday is a charitable alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a time for people to kick off the festive period with a day of giving and making a commitment to charity. We are aiming to raise £1,000 on the day and recruit new volunteers who want to make a difference.

Puppy Farm Survivor Roly - Daily Mirror and RSPCA Animal Hero Award Finalist!

Roly, a Hope Rescue Assisted Adoption dog, has been selected as a finalist in the Rescue Animal of the Year category. Roly was nominated because he survived an appalling start to his life, being born in the squalor of a puppy farm in West Wales - if it wasn’t for Hope Rescue, Roly’s life would have ended there before it had barely begun. Since then he has been living with a number of life-limiting conditions but despite everything, he embraces life with spirit and courage.

Could you spare a few hours to help at one of our fundraising events?

Christmas is a very busy time of year for rescues. To help raise much needed funds we have a full calendar of events during November and December including Street Collections, Meets and Greets and Christmas Markets. We are looking for new volunteers who can spare a couple of hours to help out. Our Fundraising Team will make you feel very welcome and you also get the chance to meet some of our dogs for adoption.

6 week old puppies abandoned in a bin

These two adorable 6 week old puppies have not had the best start in life. They were found by a member of the public in a bin and taken to the pound.

Now named Wendy and Jack, they have moved to a foster home in Wigan where they can begin to recover from their ordeal. They are not in the best of health with bald patches and scabs but with proper vet care and a good diet we are hopeful they will soon be fit and healthy.

Brave Sid - 13 week old lurcher puppy with a broken leg

Sid recently came into our care from a local vets with a broken leg. The orthopaedic vet recommended an operation to repair the leg and give him the best outcome.

This week he went into theatre and had an external fixator fixed to hold the pins in place. He is now on crate rest and will be going back to the vets for regular checks and dressing changes before the pins are started to be removed in three weeks. Keeping a Lurcher puppy amused whilst on crate rest will be a real challenge for his foster family!

Latest update on our charity shop project

Our offer on a shop in Taff Street, Pontypridd has been accepted and we have instructed solicitors. The property is located in a prime location with a good footfall. It has plenty of space downstairs for both a retail shop and a drop-in Information Centre where the public can find out more information about our work. We have the same amount of space upstairs to develop a volunteer meeting area as well as plenty of space for sorting the stock, a Managers office etc.

On the road...

We have finally managed to get our new van sign written and we think it looks amazing! The graphics feature two of our happily rehomed dogs - Boo and Millie. We are so grateful to the PawPrint Charitable Trust for their £15k donation which enabled us to buy the van, and also to the Marchig Animal Welfare Trust and Monmouthshire Building Society for their donations.
