Vale of Glamorgan Council Stray Dog Service

Hope Rescue has held the interim stray dog contract for Bridgend County Borough Council since 4th December 2017. We are delighted to report that following a tender process, we have been successful in securing the full contract which now also includes part of the Vale of Glamorgan under their shared service arrangements.

With effect from 1st April 2018, stray dogs found in the wards of St Brides, Llandow/Ewenny, Llantwit Major, Cowbridge and St Athan will also be coming to Hope Rescue. Stray dogs found in any other ward within the Vale of Glamorgan will continue to go to Cardiff Dogs Home.

During working hours there should be no impact to the services and the Dog Warden will still be the first port of call. The main difference will be that the dogs will be held at Hope Rescue:

Hope Rescue Centre, Cynllan Lodge, Old Llanharry Road, Llanharan, CF72 9NH
Tel: 01443 226659

If a stray dog is found out of hours, Hope Rescue will provide a 24 hour reception service to receive the dog. However, as with Cardiff Dogs Home, please note that we are unable to provide a collection service. Members of the public should contact the out of hours call centre first on 01446 700111 and obtain a reference number from the call centre before contacting Hope Rescue and arranging to drop off the dog at the Hope Rescue centre.
