A New Year's Message from our Chair of Trustees

"As we say goodbye to 2017 and welcome in 2018 I just wanted to say a few words. Although I had volunteered for Hope Rescue for a number of years, it was not until I became a Trustee last year and then Chair of Trustees in March of this year that I truly realised just how much hard work goes into running a rescue. Much of that work is largely unseen by the public but without that selfless dedication, unwavering enthusiasm and at times, utter stubbornness, of staff and volunteers alike to help dogs in need, we would not be where we are today.

Looking back over the past year, it has been a truly amazing journey for Hope Rescue. A huge thank you must go to our incredible team of staff and volunteers, with a special note of thanks to our phenomenal Transformation Manager, Ness. She will not thank me for singling her out, but we all know how much she has done and continues to do for Hope Rescue – it really is in her DNA and she should take a huge amount of personal credit for everything we have achieved this year. We are very fortunate to have a super staff team at our rescue centre who work so hard, day in day out, and frequently go the extra mile to make a difference to our dogs. This year, our fundraising has been on a different level, as evidenced by the success of our Cosy Kennels Appeal, and we have made great progress with our charity shop, which has attracted much well-deserved praise; next year will see both areas develop even further with some exciting plans in the pipeline.

Our amazing volunteer team are at the heart of our rescue and they undertake a myriad of tasks, from canine carers at our centre to fundraisers at shows and events, from drivers, photographers and doggie deli bakers, to graphic designers and foster carers... the list is endless, and we are so very grateful to them all. I must also mention my fellow Trustees whose tireless commitment and leadership goes unrecognised, but I am proud to work alongside them as they epitomise the meaning of teamwork, especially when times are tough. Lastly, a big ‘Hope Thank You’ to all our supporters who donate and help spread the word about our work – we think you are all amazing and quite simply without you, we could not continue to do what we do.

On behalf of everyone at Hope Rescue we wish you a very Happy New Year. Roll on 2018 – we promise it will be another incredible and exciting year in which we will transform forever the lives of many more rescue dogs!"
