Currently all of our dogs are placed in a foster home to be assessed before being rehomed. This helps us find the perfect forever home that meets with the dog's requirements. If you are passionate about dogs, a good communicator, enjoy supporting and helping others and can dedicate your spare time to rehoming a dog in need, this could be a great opportunity for you.
Our intention has always been to do a complete refurbishment of our charity shop in Pontypridd. Be one of the crowd – join in to help us raise funds to buy our very own rescue centre in Rhondda Cynon Taff! Our crowdfunding page is one way you can help and is aimed at businesses and organisations who are interested in sponsorship and other corporate supporter benefits.
We are pleasesd to announce that we have now broken through the £10,000 mark for our Rescue Centre Appeal.
The Justgiving appeal, offline donations and the Crowdfunder combined total now stands at £10,152.88. We still have a number of Hope Heroes and organisations busy fundraising, special events organised such as a pop-up shop in Caldicot, the current online auction and a soon-to be-launched raffle.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of four new Hope Rescue Trustees, who are all based in South Wales, and who join our existing Board of Vanessa Waddon, Paula Rowe and Kate Needham. As many of you will know, this is a very exciting time for us as we embark on our first major capital project, buying our very own rescue centre. The new Trustees will play a key role in delivering this project, and also in shaping our future strategic direction.
We will shortly be refurbishing our charity shop in Pontypridd, which will include a dog friendly coffee shop, pending a decision on grant funding. As part of this we need to gauge local opinion on its current use, our future plans and how you think we can improve.
We are also keen to find out whether there is interest in some exciting new community activities we have planned, including craft and baking workshops and craft and natter groups.
Could you be a "Hope Hero" and help raise funds for our new rescue centre?
We are looking for individuals or groups that can raise £100 or more for our Rescue Centre Appeal. The Appeal is raising funds towards the exciting purchase of our new Rescue Centre in Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales which will transform the lives of our rescue dogs.
We finally revealed our BIG secret at Barking Mad…Hope Rescue is buying its own rescue centre! We still can’t really believe it ourselves as this has always been our aspiration and with everyone’s help, we can make this dream a reality.
We received a call last week from a worried member of the public about Penny, an underweight 11 year old Labrador-cross with a skin condition, flea infestation and overgrown claws. Penny is now safe in our care and getting the vet treatment and TLC she so desperately needs. She is thriving in a fabulous foster home and despite her poor condition, is showing what a loving and sweet girl she is.
This bank holiday was a very busy one with two shows in quick succession – Bedwellty on Saturday and then Barking Mad on Bank Holiday Monday. We are so very grateful for everyone who came along to show their support for us and the work we do. A huge thank you to everyone for all their hard work in making both shows such great successes.
Barking Mad is our annual fun dog show and this year it was bigger and better than ever before. The crowds queuing up to get in were unbelievable and the class entries were incredible – our two judges certainly had their work cut out for them.
