#GivingTuesday for Hope Rescue

Hope Rescue will be celebrating #GivingTuesday, on 2nd December, a global day of giving something back. #GivingTuesday is a charitable alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a time for people to kick off the festive period with a day of giving and making a commitment to charity. We are aiming to raise £1,000 on the day and recruit new volunteers who want to make a difference. We have set up a special Justgiving Page and will be sharing ideas across social media of how you can help Hope Rescue in 2015 – a very special year for us as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary. Rather than tell you ourselves why we think we deserve your support, we will instead be sharing stories from those individuals and organisations that Hope Rescue has helped. Volunteers will also be explaining what volunteering for Hope Rescue means to them. So please keep checking in to our Facebook Page by clicking on the FB button on the top right of this page.

Hope Rescue is primarily a coordinating rescue helping stray dogs in Local Authority pounds who would otherwise be destroyed. We commit to 4 Local Authorities to take ALL their strays following completion of their statutory 7 days, and also help other local pounds and Rescues as and when resources allow. Our aim is to place most of the dogs we help with other reputable rescues; we cover many thousands of miles every year transporting dogs throughout the UK. We also rehome dogs ourselves via a network of foster homes. If we cannot secure a rescue or foster space we also use private boarding kennels. Last year we helped a total of 626 dogs.

We also run a “Hope in the Community” project, the aim of which is to reduce the numbers of dogs needing to come in to rescue. This comprises three elements: campaigning for improved animal welfare, education and responsible ownership and helping owners facing emergency situations such as domestic abuse and homelessness by providing canine respite care.

We have one paid member of staff; the rest of our Team are volunteers. We are entirely self-funded and rely on donations and fundraising - our outgoings for 2013/14 were a staggering £179,000. You can make a donation towards these costs through our special Justgiving page here.

You can also donate by simply texting TUES96 and an amount of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070 or by Paypal at paypal@hoperescue.org.uk
