Our intention has always been to do a complete refurbishment of our charity shop in Pontypridd. We are delighted to say that we have just had some good news – we have been successful with our grant applications for the work. In total we have been awarded £138,192 from Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC Pontypridd Townscape Enhancement Programme and the Welsh Church Act Fund.
We cannot thank the Council enough for all their support which has enabled us to dream bigger and better than our original plans. The shop will be refurbished from top to bottom including a new frontage, upgraded retail area, small coffee shop area (dog-friendly!) and volunteer training/workshop space. The funding also includes capital items for our craft and baking activities, and volunteer training.
The work will start week beginning 7th November and the shop is now closed for around 12 weeks for all the refurbishment to take place.
In order for us to continue our shop activities we will be running an interim pop-up shop at 4a Market Street, Caerphilly (next to Brinsons and opposite the Tourist Information Centre). This temporary arrangement will be for the duration of the works and should be operational in about a week’s time. While the Pontypridd shop will be unable to take donations during the refurbishment, we can still take them in Caerphilly.
We will keep everyone updated on how the new-look shop is taking shape so please watch this space and see our new shop grow.
