We would like to wish all our volunteers and supporters a very Happy New Year.
The past year was aother successful one for Hope Rescue and our dogs. Our volunteers, staff, supporters, the rescues that help us, the companies we work with and our grant funders have all ensured that we not only helped a total of 641 dogs last year, but also that they received the very best care. And we also managed to open our first charity shop! The figures break down as follows:
Merry Christmas to all of our amazing staff, volunteers and supporters.
There are so many dogs that now have happy futures to look forward to, thanks to you.
Let's hope that 2016 brings peace, joy and many more forever homes for dogs that need our help.
Here is our very own Ewok (real name Wicket) celebrating the release of the new Star Wars film.
How many Ewoks do you know?
‘Tis the season to be jolly, a time for loving and giving and this is no exception when it comes to the kennel residents of Hope Rescue. At holiday times, we often face a shortage of kennel spaces, so it is doubly important to get our dogs into foster homes. There is literally ‘no room at the inn’ – so a plea for foster homes to give dogs a warm place by the fire is top of the Christmas wish list.
Bolt is a stunning American Bulldog who has the dubious distinction of being Hope Rescue’s longest resident in boarding kennels. His luck has taken a positive turn with the announcement this week that Budget Vets have decided to sponsor Bolt’s kennel. This means that not only will he have the support of this well-known South Wales veterinary group, but it is hoped that the added publicity will help him realise his dream of getting a foster or forever home.
The start of December heralds the annual #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving something back. Many retailers in the UK have taken up the idea of Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday online shopping. But #GivingTuesday is a charitable alternative to the start of the Christmas shopping season, a time for people to kick off the festive period with a day of giving and making a commitment to charity.
A huge Hope Rescue thank you to everyone who supported our Barking Mad fundraising week. There have been so many great activities involving lots of people, both young and old, that we can't begin to say individual thanks to you all. But please take a bow (wow wow) and be assured that you have all helped us to raise much-needed funds.
Do you have space in front of your fire or on a warm comfy sofa this Christmas? Our kennel dogs should really be in loving foster homes, especially over the festive period, and we would really like to hear from you if you can help.
At holiday times we are often facing a shortage of kennel spaces, so it is doubly important to get our dogs into foster homes. This means that we can help more dogs and give them the Christmas they all deserve.
We have some great events and activities over the next week to help us reach our £10,000 target in this, our 10th anniversary year.
Our friends at Bonny Graphics have designed hoodies, sweatshirts and t shirts that are bound to appeal to everyone. They have very generously offered to donate 30% of the profits to our Barking Mad Week 10th anniversary fund!
So why not treat yourself or buy something as a present for someone special - they would be great Christmas gifts and you can help the Hope Rescue dogs as well. What could be better?
If you love making things look good and being creative, we could have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
