‘Tis the season to be jolly, a time for loving and giving and this is no exception when it comes to the kennel residents of Hope Rescue. At holiday times, we often face a shortage of kennel spaces, so it is doubly important to get our dogs into foster homes. There is literally ‘no room at the inn’ – so a plea for foster homes to give dogs a warm place by the fire is top of the Christmas wish list.
Kate Needham, who runs Hope Rescue’s Foster and Adoption team, is appealing for local foster homes this Christmas: “Our dogs are full of love and deserve a second chance in life; they should be enjoying home comforts and not spending their festive days in kennels.”
Despite this busy time of year, we work doubly hard to ensure that no dog is left behind, irrespective of their age, breed or medical condition. Many of the dogs that come into our care have never experienced a kennel environment before, and find the whole experience very stressful. By using foster homes, they can be assessed in a comfortable environment, allowing them to build up their confidence while getting the Christmas they are longing for.
