Giving Hope to the Dogstar Dogs

The Trustees and Rescue Manager from Hope Rescue are taking a busman's holiday and are flying out to Sri Lanka on June 18th to volunteer for their friends at Dogstar Foundation.

There is little or no animal welfare protection in Sri Lanka with over a million stray dogs at risk from poisoning and relocation from tourist areas. Rabies is also endemic which has a significant impact on human health and well-being. Owned dogs do not fare much better and are often permanently chained or kennelled.

Save the Dates - Fundraising Events in June

June is a very busy month for fundraising events and the hardworking Hope Rescue volunteers would be extremely grateful for any extra help. Whether that is holding a collecting tin, baking doggy deli, showcasing our foster dogs, all will help to raise much needed funds and awareness.

If you can help at any of these events, before or on the day, please contact us on

Foster Homes Needed in South Wales

Have you ever considered fostering a dog? Do you have space in your heart and home for a dog to stay for a while until the right forever home is found?

We rely on our foster homes to provide a place where dogs can take their first steps towards a happy future. All of our dogs are assessed in kennels but really need a foster home so more detailed assessments can take place. Foster homes allow us to assess the dogs in a home environment which will then help us to match them with the right forever families.

Big Charity Shop Sort Out

The good news is that the Hope Rescue Charity Shop in Pontypridd is full to bursting with lovely donations. Unfortunately due to a lack of regular volunteers, it has become necessary to do a big sort out to ensure that the shop has new stock and a well-organised shop floor.

So there will be a big "Charity Shop Sort Out" on  Sunday 24th, Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th April, with the shop closed for business on all of these days.

Great News from Petplan Charitable Trust

A huge "Hope Rescue Thank You" goes to the Petplan Charitable Trust for the award of a £5,000 grant towards the cost of vet fees for our dogs.

Hope Rescue will not turn its back on a dog in need, irrespective of age, breed or medical condition. The cost of veterinary care is the second largest expense we have after kennel fees, so this grant will help significantly with the care we give to our dogs.
