* UPDATE *
They did it! Kath and Mary had their locks consigned to the 'cutting room' floor, raising over £620 in the process. You can see the final results above.
You can still show your support and help them reach their £1,000 target by donating online: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mary-hope-shaw
We were called out to Pyle to pick up a little stray dog found in a distressing condition. We were horrified when we reached her. She was the sweetest little chocolate Patterdale, but was very shut down and shaking with shock and fear. She was covered in weeping and bleeding sores which looked horribly infected. Her coat was a mass of sticky and tangled fur, and her eyes were also infected. This didn't happen overnight and it is clear she has been suffering for a while.
At Hope Rescue we never know what is going to walk through the door next. But even we weren’t prepared when we received a call from a Local Authority asking for help with a number of dogs that urgently needed somewhere to go after being seized from an unlicensed breeder under the Animal Welfare Act.
Come along and join us at ActionPetz Bridgend for a fun doggy market and fundraising evening this Saturday. Dogs and children are very welcome too!
You can enjoy private use of our training paddock which is surrounded by special dog-proof fencing to give you a secure space for some off-lead or long-lead training with your dog.
Cost is just £5 for 30 minutes of exclusive use.
At Hope Rescue we are licensed to board dogs and have a dedicated block of 20 kennels for boarding customers at our centre in Llanharan. The boarding income supports the day to day running costs of our busy rescue centre. After a busy summer we now have vacancies. The boarding charge is £16 per day, or £27 for two dogs sharing (up to Staffie size). The dogs are cared for by our experienced welfare team and are walked daily in our private 18 acre woodland, or can have off-lead exercise in our secure paddock.

DOG BREEDER WHO MADE £50,000 BY MIS-SELLING ANIMALS RECEIVES SUSPENDED SENTENCE AFTER SUCCESSFUL PROSECUTION BY VALE OF GLAMORGAN COUNCIL
A dog breeder has received a suspended sentence and a curfew after Cardiff Crown Court heard how she had advertised puppies for sale that she did not have, lied about their genetic make-up and overbred her animals.
Marge the Terrier, picked up as a stray with her 6-month-old puppy, came into the care of Hope Rescue and it soon became apparent that she was already pregnant again, another tragic victim of irresponsible breeding. Hope’s welfare team wasn’t surprised when no-one came forward to claim her as dogs like Marge are often abandoned just when they need their owners the most. Thanks to Hope Rescue’s team of volunteers, Marge was able move into the comfort of a foster home, where she gave birth to three healthy pups that are now seven weeks old.
BBC Wales are planning a new, 4-part series and are looking for contributors from across Wales. It's aimed at highlighting the benefits of adopting a rescue dog and they will link in with rescue centres in Wales as people look to adopt a dog.
Closing date for applications is 30th April. All details are on the poster.
