Stewart is a gorgeous young Ridgeback cross, we believe he is around a year old. He was terrified when he came to us as a stray, to the point we couldn't even get a photograph of him. It took the staff quite a few days of very patient and gentle coaxing to encourage him to start interacting and leave his kennel. He has clearly had a difficult start in life with not much effort from his previous owners.
He is still a very shy boy but with the staff he knows he is a great big puppy, very affectionate and loves playing with toys in the field. Although he struggles with his initial meet of new people, it doesn't take him long to trust you if you have a tasty treat and a ball to hand! Stewart gets on well with other dogs and he would prefer a home where there is already another dog or dogs to help his confidence. His new owners will need to visit him at the centre a few times for him to get to know them and staff at the centre will help with a slow intro the home.
Stewart shows signs of separation anxiety so will suit someone who isn't out for long hours who will start to teach him being on his own isn't so bad. He would like a home without young children please due to his sensitive nature. Although Stewart will need some extra effort from his adopters, he is going to be very worth it, he really is a gorgeous young dog who is desperate to make friends.
Whenever dogs comes into our care they are assessed before they are adopted. This is because the majority of our dogs come from Local Authority pounds and with little or no previous history. This initial assessment period allows us to assess temperament, personality and the best match for a new home. We do not work on a first come first served basis but always strive to find the ideal home for each dog.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to adoption. A homecheck is required, and you will need to come along to the centre to meet the dog with your own dog(s) and family. Our adoption fee is £200.
