Arthur is a 6 month old Cocker Spaniel. He is an active and bright young dog with lots of potential. Arthur appears to have had limited positive experiences in his previous home and can react very defensively if he sees any predictors of punishment. He will need an owner who is experienced in positive reinforcement and reward based training and who is calm and patient to help him overcome these issues. The staff at the centre will give owners support with his training. Arthur is playful with other dogs and enjoys interacting with dogs on walks but he does have some anxiety over high value items so will need to be the only dog in the home or with an very laid back and confident dog. He is looking for a adult only home.
Arthur is still a very young dog and with effort from his new owners should be able to grow into a confident and well adjusted dog. However potential adopters do need to be aware that he will need consistency and kind training to help him reach this potential.
Whenever dogs comes into our care they are assessed before they are adopted. This is because the majority of our dogs come from Local Authority pounds and with little or no previous history. This initial assessment period allows us to assess temperament, personality and the best match for a new home. We do not work on a first come first served basis but always strive to find the ideal home for each dog.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to adoption. A homecheck is required, and you will need to come along to the centre to meet the dog with your own dog(s) and family. Our adoption fee is £180.
