Challenge Events 2018

Support Hope Rescue by taking part in one of our fantastic challenge events during 2018.

Whether you want to trek or run, swim or slim, we have an event to suit you.

The money that you fundraise will help Hope Rescue to care for even more dogs this year, make vital improvements to the rescue centre and provide vet care for the rescue dogs. Check out the events below and pop your details into our form to register your interest. Then a member of the fundraising team will be in touch with you.

A tandem skydive is the ideal first jump – you will experience the thrill of freefall and enjoy a high performance canopy ride whilst attached to a fully qualified instructor. On arrival you will be introduced to your tandem instructor who will take you through all the training required for you to do your skydive. This includes a talk about the equipment to be used, aircraft orientation as well as covering what you can expect in freefall and finally the position you need to adopt for landing. The training takes about 30 minutes and your instructor will be pleased to answer any questions that you may have. For your jump we will provide you with a jumpsuit, gloves, goggles and headgear. Next you will be fitted into the dual harness. You will be jumping from up to 12,000 feet. It takes around 15 minutes for the aircraft to reach altitude so you will have time to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. Once at altitude, you are ready to go! You will be freefalling at 120mph for about 45 seconds. Your instructor will deploy the parachute by 5,000 feet. The parachute has dual controls so you can aid the instructor by spiralling the parachute around the sky. Your instructor will take control of the parachute for the landing. All in all it is an experience guaranteed to take your breath away! To commemorate your skydive you will be presented with a certificate at the end of the jump.

Starting with our back tyres dipped in the Irish Sea in the seaside town of Whitehaven, our cycle challenge encompasses some of the best scenery Britain has to offer as we tackle the tough 136-mile ride to Tynemouth. Our fully supported route takes in long, steep climbs over some of the highest passes in the Lake District and some equally impressive descents that will really blow the cobwebs away.  We will pass woodland and pine forests, lakes, streams and moorland quilted with purple heather. The support we receive on this ride is second to none - we take care of everything one could ever require from a cycling challenge - from transporting luggage, providing refreshment stops and meals, arranging accommodation to taking care of all our needs; mechanical, logistical and personal.  Some say our support crew are the best in the market, and it’s no surprise why. From the stunning mountains of the Lake District to the beautiful open moors of the Northern Pennines – all you have to do is hop on your bike and enjoy. Two coastlines, one objective.  Join us today on this awesome charity bike ride!

Join us as we trek to the top of Wales to conquer Mount Snowdon at an elevation of 3,560ft. Our trail to the summit is the Pyg Track, which starts at the top of Pen y Pass and rises steadily with the imposing Crib Goch directly above. As the path gradually rises we are privy to amazing views down to Glaslyn far below.  Our fully supported trek will open up dramatic views as far as Anglesey (on a clear day!) as we approach the summit. After the obligatory celebration photos at the summit, we start our descent on the Llanberis Path. Although this is the longest in distance, it is a gradual descent, so easy going underfoot after the strenuous climb up to the summit.  We are treated to the most stunning views as we wind our way down to Llanberis for our celebration meal.
